What do you do?
You grab a straw. Something familiar. Something you already know that's close enough to the new thing. And you pull yourself up from there.
- First day in Tokyo? "It's like New York but cleaner and quieter." That's your straw. You inherited 80% of your understanding of "big city" from New York — the subway, the crowds, the grid of streets. The remaining 20% is what makes Tokyo Tokyo: the bowing, the vending machines on every corner, the fact that trains are measured in seconds, not minutes.
- Learning guitar after piano? "Chords work the same way — multiple notes at once." That's your straw. You inherited harmony from piano. What's new is the physical interface — fingers on strings instead of keys.
- Trying a Thai dish for the first time? "It's like stir-fry but with fish sauce and lime." You inherited "stir-fry" from Chinese food. The 10% difference — the funk of fish sauce, the acid of lime — is what makes it Thai.
You don't start from zero. Ever. You can't. Your brain refuses. It always reaches for a straw.

Here's the mold — the structure behind every straw-grab:

This is how understanding works. Not just sometimes. Always.
- The 80% is your straw — the parent you inherit from
- The 10% polymorphism is why the new thing isn't just a clone of the old thing
- The 10% encapsulation is what keeps you sane — you don't need to understand the train signaling system to ride the Tokyo subway on day one
Dad calls this the 비빌데 — the thing you lean on. The straw you grab. The parent class you inherit from.

Don't memorize these definitions. You'll meet them again and again in every track. By the end, they'll be reflex, not vocabulary.
New Instance Trial
Pick something you learned recently. Anything — a new app, a new recipe, a new concept at work, a new neighborhood. Now trace your straw:
- What did you lean on? What existing knowledge did you grab to make sense of the new thing? That's your inheritance — your 80%.
- What was different? What surprised you, or didn't match the thing you leaned on? That's the polymorphism — the 10% that makes it its own thing.
- What did you shrug off? What did you decide you didn't need to understand right now? That's encapsulation — the 10% you black-boxed.
If you can answer those three questions, you just did object-orientation. On your own life. No code in sight.

"When I try to understand something new, I always compare it to something I already know. Like learning a new city by comparing it to my hometown. Is there a name for this pattern — not in programming, but in how humans think?"
Your AI might say "analogy" or "schema theory" or "transfer learning." All valid instances of the same mold. Push further:
"If I borrow 80% from what I already know, and only 10% is truly new, and I ignore 10% for now — does this pattern have a structure?"
Warning: If your AI jumps to "object-oriented programming" at this point — that's the 95% reflex. Steer it back: "I'm not asking about code. I'm asking about the structure of human understanding itself."
