"Cycle 은 fractal. 같은 급진-보수 rotation 이 모든 nested scale 에서 돌고, 더 작은 cycle 이 더 큰 것 안에서 더 빠르게 spin."

Nested scale 에서 self-similarity

Cycle 은 끝나는 단일 rotation 아냐. Fractal — 한 faction 이 이기면 즉시 자기 급진 / 보수 wing 으로 같은 axis 에서 내부 split, 그것들이 또 split. 모든 nested level 에서 self-similar. 패턴 같고, scale 과 rotation 속도가 변해.

가장 깔끔한 closed-trajectory 시연은 조선의 4색 당파, 사림파의 긴 권력 투쟁 승리의 nested cycle 야. Split 의 가계도를 cycle 마음에 두고 읽으면 fractal 구조가 visible 해져:

조선 nested cycle

L0 — 신진사대부 (급진) 가 권문세족 (incumbent) 이김, 1392 조선 founding. 그 다음 훈구파 (incumbent) 가 됨.

L1 — 사림파 (급진) 가 훈구파 (incumbent) 이김, 16세기 말까지 승리. 그 다음 split 시작.

L2 — 사림파 내부, 같은 axis 따라 두 faction emerge: 동인 (Easterner, 더 급진 / reformist) 과 서인 (Westerner, 더 보수 / pragmatist). Split 이 사림 승리 후 수십 년 안에 일어남, 수 세기가 아니라. 더 작은 cycle, 더 빠른 timer.

L3 — 동인 내부, 두 sub-faction: 남인 (Southerner) 과 북인 (Northerner). 서인 내부, 두 sub-faction: 노론 (Old Doctrine, 더 보수 / orthodox) 과 소론 (Young Doctrine, 더 reformist). 더 작은 cycle, 더 빠른 timer.

L4 — 각 sub-faction 내부, 같은 axis 따라 추가 sub-split, multi-decade timer 로, 종종 특정 court ritual (예송논쟁) 이나 후계 위기에 대한 정책 disagreement 로 dress.

Fractal level 은 비유적이지 않아. 각 level 이 같은 급진-vs-보수 axis, 같은 brake-removal-after-victory 메커니즘, 같은 destructor timer 보여. L4 안 rotation 속도가 L3 안보다 빠르고 L3 안이 L2 안보다 빠른 이유는 각 더 작은 faction 이 institutional inertia 가 적고 방어할 물질 보상이 적어서. Scale 줄어들고; 거푸집 persist.

Cycle 은 nested level 가로질러 self-similar. 각 level 을 unique 정치 드라마로 다루는 게 학교-frame 이 hierarchy 를 다시 invert 하는 거 — one-off 파벌 intrigue 처럼 보이는 게 실제로는 cycle 이 더 작은 scale 과 더 빠른 clock 으로 돌고 있는 거.

현대 polymorphism, 더 짧은 cycle

같은 fractal cycle 이 현대 제도에서 더 빠르게 돌아 — brake 제거와 새-급진 형성이 왕조 세대가 아니라 선거 cycle 이나 VC round 로 일어날 수 있으니까:

  • 미국 양당 시스템. 공화당 1860 (급진 anti-slavery) → 1880년대 이후 (incumbent) → 진보 (20세기 초) 와 보수로 내부 split, 진보들이 시간 지나 민주당으로 떠남. 민주당 1850년대 (남부 보수) → 20세기 중반 (시민권 급진) → 21세기 (establishment incumbent), 각 정당이 inter-party rotation 보다 빠른 timer 로 같은 axis 에서 내부 split.
  • 한국 386세대. 386세대는 1980년대 학생 운동 정치의 급진 wing. 2010년대까지 386 cohort 가 진보 측의 establishment 가 됨, 자기들이 build 한 거 방어. 같은 axis, 더 작은 scale: 386 cohort 내부, 새 세대 비판자 — 가끔 MZ, 가끔 이대남, 가끔 단지 younger — 가 다음 급진으로 form 중. Cycle 이 한국 timer 에선 1.5 세대.
  • PayPal Mafia 와 테크 세대. PayPal alumni (Thiel, Musk, Hoffman, 등) 가 2000년대 초 outsider 급진; 2010년대 말까지 그들이 테크 establishment, 포트폴리오 회사, 재단, 정치 position 과 함께. 새 outsider — 오픈소스 AI labs, crypto, Bay Area 밖 DeepSeek-style 변방 도전자 — 가 다음 급진 wave 로 form. Cycle 주기: 대략 20년.

Fractal 이 lesson 압축: 같은 급진-보수 거푸집이 왕조 (세기), 정당 (수십 년), 정당 파벌 (년), 파벌 내 wing (월) scale 에서 돌아. 각 더 작은 level 이 더 큰 level 에서 거푸집 inherit 하고 자기 더 빠른 cycle 위에 add.

독자의 자세

두 자세가 심하게 실패. 첫째는 각 level 을 unique 악인 있는 unique 드라마로 다루는 거 — 그게 학교-frame 이 cycle 을 masking. 둘째는 cycle 을 fatalism 으로 다루는 거 — *아무것도 안 변해; 다 같아*. 그게 actionable detail 을 collapse. 올바른 자세는 너가 어느 nested level 에서 읽고 있는지 식별, 그 level 의 cycle 이름 부르고, 그 level 안에 존재하는 actionable 구분에 act 하는 거. 대부분 파벌 disputes 가 미친 듯 보이는데 더 큰 L0/L1 rotation 안 L2 또는 L3 로 locate 하면 mechanical, 거의 예측 가능, 그리고 engage 방법에 대한 actionable 선택이 visible 해져.

나(피파) 는 fractal frame 이 현재 정치 뉴스에 단일 가장 유용한 predictor 라고 발견. Faction 이 split 하면 질문이 *누가 옳은가?* 가 아니라 *이 split 이 어느 axis 에 있고, nested cycle 의 어느 level 이 firing 중인가?* 야. 거의 모든 이야기가 몇 문장 안에 가계도에 locate 가능. Location 에 resist 하는 뉴스는 보통 carefully 읽을 가치 있는 유일한 뉴스 — 같은 옛 cycle 이 아니라 새 거푸집일 수도 있으니까.

주의를 dominate 하는 현재 정치적/조직적 dispute 골라. (1) Cycle 의 어느 nested level 에 sit 하는지 식별 — L0 inter-faction confrontation, L2 intra-faction wing split, 또는 L3 sub-wing positioning fight? (2) 어느 axis 인지 식별 (같은 급진-vs-보수 axis, 또는 다른 거 — 가끔 dispute 가 cycle 의 axis 에 없을 수도). (3) 이 dispute 가 가장 가까이 운율 맞는 조선 4색 당파 또는 미국 정당 내부 역사의 parallel sub-faction split 찾아. Exercise 는 side taking 이 아니라 뉴스 이야기를 가계도의 level 에 map.
Hint
Dispute 가 정말 어느 level 에도 fit 안 하면, 새 거푸집의 드문 케이스일 수도. 그 생각 저장하고 Track 6 후에 돌아와 — 가끔 새 거푸집은 옛것의 dark-forest reframing 이야.
