Three images for one move
Liu Cixin's Three-Body Problem introduces a chilling line. To a more advanced civilization, humans are bugs. Not enemies, not partners — just an order of complexity beneath notice. The Trisolaran sophons (intelligent particles) regard us with the casual indifference we'd regard ants with.
The image isn't science fiction posturing. It's a frame check. If a wider frame existed, what would our current frame look like from there?

- The ant on the chess board. An ant walking across a chessboard during a grandmaster game has no concept that a game is happening. It sees terrain — squares, pieces as obstacles. The structure of what's actually unfolding is two layers above the ant's frame. Not because the ant is dumb. Because the frame doesn't include the right axes.
- The amoeba trying to understand the cosmos. An amoeba has chemistry, motility, a kind of stimulus-response. To grasp galaxies, it would need axes it doesn't have. There's nothing wrong with the amoeba; the frame just doesn't reach.
What this is and isn't
This isn't humans are useless. We're remarkably capable creatures with a remarkably good track record of frame-shifting (Newton, Einstein, quantum). It's a calibration check. We are an intelligence inside a frame, like every intelligence is inside its frame. There's no view from nowhere.
Some claims that follow from the calibration:
- The most confident scientific claims of any era have always turned out partial. Probably ours too.
- The categories we use right now (consciousness, free will, life, intelligence, AI) are likely seen as quaint a few centuries from now — the way we see vital force from 18th-century biology.
- The right response to this isn't despair. It's holding our certainties loosely while still acting on them. The frame is real and useful. It's also not the whole.
The closing move of this track
This whole track was the meta layer. Every other track in this quest sits inside a frame — Newton's frame for forces, Einstein's frame for scale, the OO frame for life, the quantum frame for probability. Each track will say this engine works, here's its bound, here's where it breaks. That's the model + limit habit from track 0, applied to a specific lens.
And every one of those frames is also a frame inside the human, cultural, domain triple. There is no frame-free vantage. There is only the practice of noticing the frame, swapping engines when the wall is hit, and holding our certainties with one hand free.
