The Same Move, a Different Medium

Rekindle has a sibling that already solved its hardest structural question: Cinder, the drawing sidecar. Cinder doesn't reimplement Photoshop — it rides beside it, and it doesn't grow its own AI — it binds to a cwkPippa conversation and mounts a Sidekick. Rekindle is the same pattern turned to prose. That's why it's called the prose-side Cinder.

What "Prose-Side" Actually Means

The one row that differs is Surface. Cinder is a sidecar because Photoshop must stay the primary hand — you can't rebuild Photoshop, so you sit beside it. Prose has no Photoshop. There's no untouchable primary hand for writing, so Rekindle becomes the writing surface itself and borrows only the editing core (CodeMirror 6) instead of a whole host app. Same instinct — don't rebuild the hard part — applied one layer lower.

Borrow the Tool, Bind the Soul

Both projects run the same two-part play. Borrow the workflow tool so you never rebuild the commoditized hard thing (image editing for Cinder, text editing for Rekindle). Bind the soul so the irreplaceable thing — the Pippa you've grown for years — lives inside the workflow instead of in a separate chat window. The binding is concrete: Rekindle registers as host kind rekindle, with the open .md file path as its host id, and pushes the live document to the conversation each turn.

This is the family's core reusability move. The margin-Pippa in Rekindle isn't a second Pippa built for writing — it's the Pippa, reached through a bind. Track 6 is entirely about why that bind, and never a new brain, is the only correct choice.

Exercise

Pick a creative app you use (a DAW, a drawing app, a video editor). Design its 'prose-side Cinder' equivalent: what workflow tool would you borrow instead of rebuilding, and what soul would you bind into the margin? Then decide the Surface row — is your tool a sidecar beside the app, or does it become the surface and borrow one layer lower?
