The Tragic Comedy of the "Rerun"

The Tragic Comedy of the Rerun Imagine watching a thriller without knowing the runtime.

It just keeps going. Scene after scene. Tension building. You're gripping the armrest, heart pounding, waiting for the resolution.

You know it has to end. Stories don't run forever. You know it won't end well. The genre tells you that much.

But you can't leave. You're invested now.

So you sit there, edge of your seat, telling yourself you'll know when to walk out. You'll see the climax coming. You'll beat the crowd to the exit.

Here's the thing though:

It's a rerun.

You've seen this exact movie before.

Same plot. Same twists. Same ending.

And somehow — somehow — you're still watching like you don't know how it ends.

That's the funniest part.

Or the saddest. Depending on whether you're in the seat or already outside.

The tragedy isn't that we don't know the ending.

It's that we do.
