Another high-angle portrait.
This time, the camera moves — not the character’s head — as her shoulders give it away. Essentially, we are looking down at her from above at a three-quarter angle.
But here is the million-dollar question to ask yourself:
Would you go any higher?
Probably not, unless you are in the mood for an extreme-angle practice session.
Frankly, I seldom use these angles, and I do not particularly enjoy drawing them.
This is mostly about understanding how perspective works as a whole.
A slightly higher or lower angle should usually suffice.
Just a reminder: the cheek line gets drastically steeper from this angle. Even steeper than you would normally draw.
That is a common trap.
Your hand starts questioning itself:
“This cannot be this steep!”
Then your brain listens to that inner voice and keeps adjusting it back.
You end up somewhere in-between.
Start with a bold, steep C-curve.
Then stick to it.
